When thinking of Cloud Advantage think: Trade Capital Expense for Variable Expense
** Six Pillars of AWS Well-Architected Framework**

(source: https://pcg.io/insights/what-is-the-well-architected-framework/)
Please Check out: https://dzone.com/articles/pillars-of-aws-well-architected-framework
This site provides solid references to each service that is involved in some of the pillars which I will post below
Operational Excellence

Performance Efficiency

Security

Reliability

Cost Optimization

These services have been mentioned in multiple courses, so I will not go over them here. If you need a refresher, please check out some of the outside resources or you can check out D315 sections specifically dealing with Service Types and Cloud types (Private, Hybrid, Public)
D315 - Network and Security -Foundations
Global Infrastructures
AWS Regions
- geographical area
- consists of 2 or more AZ
- Isolated from other AWS Regions
Three main benefits:
- 👍 Geographic separation → Isolated Fault Domain (stability & resilience)
- If a region has an outage, products will only experience outage in that region
- 👍 Geopolitical separation → Different Governance
- Data in a region is affected by the laws of the country where the region is located
- Data does NOT move between regions unless you configure/allow AWS to do so
- 👍 Location control → Performance
- Deploy product closer to users → lower latency and higher performance
Availability Zones
- physically separate and isolated from each other
- span one or more data centers
- designed as an independent failure zone
Local Zones
- Place compute, storage, database, and other select AWS Services closer to end-users
- Extension of a Region for latency sensitive applications
Edge Locations and Region Edge Cache
- Content Delivery Network endpoints for Cloud Front
- More edge locations than regions
- Primary job is to power AWS CloudFront Services

CloudFront
- CDN service
- Accelerate delivery for your websites, APIs, video content, or web assets
- DDoS Protection
- Securely with low latency
- Caching
